My 7th Birthday. All I asked for, was a painters box.

Bio:
I was born in Curacao in 1949 and moved to the Netherlands when I was four years old. I was drawing and painting from a very early age, which evolved into making illustrations for a daily newspaper, and later on,  for the hospital newsletter when I became a nurse.
In 1988 I immigrated with my five children to Canada, where I took over a horse farm. I studied ceramic art working for my teaching certifications, and was producing and teaching ceramics until I sold my business. I then traveled to Jakarta to teach painting.
Back in Canada, I furthered my studies with lessons from the well-known pastel artist Cathy Carter from Smithville, Ontario. I had admired Cathy’s horse portraits for many years and was intrigued by her ability to make such life-like drawings. Pastels, acrylics, and watercolours are now my media of choice.
My artworks are intricately executed snapshots of daily life. My exacting attention to detail is self-evident. Beside my landscapes and still-life paintings, I have a steady stream of “two and four legged” commissioned portraits coming my way, but my love for and knowledge of horses shows up in much of my artwork. my family is still very much involved with horses and I am continuing to make new art each day.

While visiting my place of Birth (Curacao) in 2014, I was offered a solo exhibit of my paintings. This happened in  the beginning of 2016. I was staying in Curacao for this from November 1, 2015 - April 24, 2016.
I also had a second exhibit in St. Michiel on Curacao

My work is at "The Artisan Market" in the Hamilton Farmers Market on York Boulevard in Hamilton, at the "James Street North General Store" in the Art District on James Street North  (95 James Street North in Hamilton), and at the "Artisans Nook" on 83-87 King Street East in Stoney Creek

I am also a member of the Women's Art Association of Hamilton, The Artists Inc., and the Hamilton Potters' Guild.
